About Us
The Growth Research Unit [GRU] is a legally registered association headquartered at the Cracow University of Economics. The association operates as a multi-discpilinary platform, encouraging research into the strategic determinants of economic growth in respect of the former Socialist countries of CE Europe & SE Asia. These goals are achieved via an annual conference as well as a two-week summer school programme. Members of the association also provide workshops and talks to visiting students, academics and to the private sector. The Summer School
Our summer school programme is made up of four core modules: 1. Growth & Welfare Distribution 2. Finance & Banking 3. Trade & Investment 4. Doing Business in Poland Each of these modules draws closely on related fields, including disposable income, labour market change, growth financing, regional network development as well as key decisions facing business. Each module runs for two days and is structured to provide participants with a theoretical and practical insight into the region, while at the same time addressing some of the key policy decisions facing transition countries in the years ahead. The Cracow Summer School Workshop 2011.pdf The GRU ConferenceThe Growth Research Unit runs an annual conference in October each year and this is followed by a round table planning and strategy meeting. The conference, which is conducted over a weekend, provides members with the opportunity to gather in a warm and friendly environment where they present the results of their research for discussion prior to release for publication. GRU welcomes new members interested in theoretcial and applied economics as well as related areas of research from other disciplines.
